Swish for Mac instal the new for ios12/29/2023 ![]() I’ve had terrible experience with Apple’s customer support in the past where they couldn’t fix broken font antialiasing for external monitors macOS doesn’t have the crucial software I need: FAR Manager Windows has better Linux support than macOS (WSL gives better integration which means Docker is easier to use compared to Minikube via Hyperkit vm) My biggest gripes with macOS, after decades of Windows and Linux: I’m in a team where every member was forced into macOS against their will, because a lot of project scripts were hardcoded for macOS by a long-gone “architect”. My gripes about Macs are almost entirely about OSX performance/reliability and command-line habitability: version over version, it almost never improves. Terrible keyboards are another thing entirely, Lenovo went through a bout of that with the X1. Either 90% of their units are defective or we're using our computers very differently. Intrusive admin software has been a problem in the past for sure - especially at Google - but I've bought dozens of these for home use as well. It bothered me when I quit the platform ages ago, and it is still bothering me now: little I care about has changed or improved. My verdict is: the hardware is usually GREAT but MacOS isn't. We've used them for work and for play, for software development and video editing and graphic design and media consumption. I gave her an M1 air this holiday season! We've had pros, airs, and iMacs in four or five different colors occupying our living spaces for fifteen or twenty years now. Between the two of us, and between home and work, we've bought or used probably 25-30 of these over the years. ![]() Interactive performance is much better, the docker-based workflows everyone's using are so much faster when they're native, and there's no mismatch between Darwin's BSD userland and the Ubuntu/CentOS you're probably using in prod. Reliability aside - and I realize that everyone values ergonomic factors differently - Linux is just a better choice in every regard for me and the kind of work that I do. I have to restart it once or twice a week. It's not uncommon to see uptimes on my ThinkPads measured in months. (Always right before a videoconference! I missed fifteen minutes of a call last week scrambling to fetch another device because the audio subsystem died and the Mac decided it had to install updates for a half hour when it rebooted.) I see people in this thread complaining that Linux distros are unreliable, but my Linux machines don't do things like beachball for 20s at a time or have complete audio system crashes requiring reboot twice a week. I did all my dev work on MacBooks between 2007-2013, but my experience this year has completely vindicated my decision to ditch the Mac at home and at work back then. I begged them to give me a ThinkPad with Linux instead, and it's been a litany of problems in the three months I've been using it.

And during the 2008 Beijing games, collected more Olympic medals than any other university in the United States. Stanford athletes have earned a total of 244 medals, 129 of them being gold. Founders of Googleĭid you know that Stanford students have won medals in every Olympic game since 1908? The sports teams at Stanford have produced some amazing athletes, upholding the reputation of their school and inspiring future generations to achieve just as many feats. The Mascot’s theme changes every year, as the tree costume is recreated every year with different touches added to it. The unofficial name of the mascot is the Stanford Tree, and as the responsibility of the Tree is in high demand, the process of choosing a student is quite intricate indeed. The Stanford Mascot is an ideal example of the playful moments you can find in this outstanding college town. The university is home to a multitude of fun activities and traditions for students to partake in, and to remember to enjoy their youth even through all the academic requirements. If you thought life as a student at Stanford would be nothing but studying and learning, that is only half the truth. A splashing introduction to their new lives at one of the most incredible campuses in California. This is an activity practiced by most freshmen during the New Student Orientation and Admit Weekend. It is as straightforward as the name suggests, students hop in every fountain found around the campus of Stanford. It is one of the Stanford fun facts that the university has a history with Fountain Hopping. With such a long past, come interesting traditions and practices. Putting their wealth to use, they created the school, little did they know it would grow to become one of the world’s most prestigious universities. ![]() They had a lingering desire to create a place where other people’s children could thrive and bloom, to receive the finest education possible in one of the state’s best private colleges. Most reliable video card benchmark12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Learn more about Gemini’s capabilities and see how it works. This helps Gemini seamlessly understand and reason about all kinds of inputs from the ground up, far better than existing multimodal models - and its capabilities are state of the art in nearly every domain. Then we fine-tuned it with additional multimodal data to further refine its effectiveness. We designed Gemini to be natively multimodal, pre-trained from the start on different modalities. These models can sometimes be good at performing certain tasks, like describing images, but struggle with more conceptual and complex reasoning. Until now, the standard approach to creating multimodal models involved training separate components for different modalities and then stitching them together to roughly mimic some of this functionality. It was built from the ground up to be multimodal, which means it can generalize and seamlessly understand, operate across and combine different types of information including text, code, audio, image and video. Gemini is the result of large-scale collaborative efforts by teams across Google, including our colleagues at Google Research. Today, we’re a step closer to this vision as we introduce Gemini, the most capable and general model we’ve ever built. AI that feels less like a smart piece of software and more like something useful and intuitive - an expert helper or assistant. For a long time, we’ve wanted to build a new generation of AI models, inspired by the way people understand and interact with the world. This promise of a world responsibly empowered by AI continues to drive our work at Google DeepMind. Ever since programming AI for computer games as a teenager, and throughout my years as a neuroscience researcher trying to understand the workings of the brain, I’ve always believed that if we could build smarter machines, we could harness them to benefit humanity in incredible ways. ![]() I’m genuinely excited for what’s ahead, and for the opportunities Gemini will unlock for people everywhere.īy Demis Hassabis, CEO and Co-Founder of Google DeepMind, on behalf of the Gemini teamĪI has been the focus of my life's work, as for many of my research colleagues. This new era of models represents one of the biggest science and engineering efforts we’ve undertaken as a company. These are the first models of the Gemini era and the first realization of the vision we had when we formed Google DeepMind earlier this year. Our first version, Gemini 1.0, is optimized for different sizes: Ultra, Pro and Nano. Now, we’re taking the next step on our journey with Gemini, our most capable and general model yet, with state-of-the-art performance across many leading benchmarks. And we continue to invest in the very best tools, foundation models and infrastructure and bring them to our products and to others, guided by our AI Principles. That means being ambitious in our research and pursuing the capabilities that will bring enormous benefits to people and society, while building in safeguards and working collaboratively with governments and experts to address risks as AI becomes more capable. We’re approaching this work boldly and responsibly. This is incredible momentum, and yet, we’re only beginning to scratch the surface of what’s possible. At the same time, developers are using our models and infrastructure to build new generative AI applications, and startups and enterprises around the world are growing with our AI tools. Nearly eight years into our journey as an AI-first company, the pace of progress is only accelerating: Millions of people are now using generative AI across our products to do things they couldn’t even a year ago, from finding answers to more complex questions to using new tools to collaborate and create. That’s what excites me: the chance to make AI helpful for everyone, everywhere in the world. It will bring new waves of innovation and economic progress and drive knowledge, learning, creativity and productivity on a scale we haven’t seen before. AI has the potential to create opportunities - from the everyday to the extraordinary - for people everywhere. I believe the transition we are seeing right now with AI will be the most profound in our lifetimes, far bigger than the shift to mobile or to the web before it. A note from Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai:Įvery technology shift is an opportunity to advance scientific discovery, accelerate human progress, and improve lives.

Terasology pc12/29/2023 ![]() the networking is a bit heavy since we serialize over protobuf and also do the same for chunks. Some older modules rely of querks of the engine that were changed ofr removed so they don't work exactly or only work for one moment before breaking with a reload. We have some core modules for the engine but some of the modules seems to replicate a lot of functionality which is not really ideal. There are a lot of problems that really need to be addressed but time is a pretty large factor. Trying to shave as much debt off the project as possible. In the past year we've kind of been going with a scorched earth type of refactor of the engine to try resolve a lot of the core problems with the current setup. The current state of the engine is pretty hogpodge as things go since this project has been going on for some time and we have a significant amount of software debt from past contributions that really need to be addressed. ![]() ![]() There has been some effort to kind of restructure the engine. I'm inclined to avoid using Discord for discussion of long-term value, as content in Discord is locked behind an account, and not accessible to search engines or web archival bots. IMHO there should be a top-level forum header for "Playing Terasology" (or similar), and it may be a good idea to move the Modules section there (perhaps a "Module Development" section could be created in its place if a more developer-focused section is still needed. One piece of tangible advice I can give: add more gameplay-centric sections to the Terasology forum, for example a section for curated module collections, and a section for texture packs. I'm sure you've heard plenty of feedback already about the Terasology experience and I know these are not easy to solve. A scripting sandbox with limited capabilities. However, I will say that Minetest's client-server design is not suitable for any sort of advanced modding, but seems like it is suitable as a sort of, "web browser" for voxel games. I can't say much with regards to networking as I have not tried Terasology multiplayer. The Minecraft modding community is very much "anything goes" and there are a lot of modders who are very busy doing their own stuff and working independently from each other, so less friction is favorable there. But from my limited exploration (github wiki), it seems Terasology makes some similar mistakes to Minetest with regards to plugin loading and security. I think that Terasology has a better technical foundation than Minetest due to the choice of programming language, and I suspect that Terasology's engine is more future-proof (I worry about the future of the Irrlicht engine). I would say, at this time, I would not recommend Terasology to anyone, as far as gameplay goes. The only thing I liked better compared to anything Minetest was the terrain graphics, after I turned off some of the more ridiculously expensive graphics settings. ![]() The overall experience of Terasology + the game, from the performance, to the UI, to the game design, to the sound design, is just not good. The default game that ships with Terasology (Josharias Survival) produces an experience that is overall just not as good as some Minetest subgames and self-customized worlds I've tried.Almost zero gameplay-related documentation is available publicly from a web browser.I've played Minetest in the past and have been meaning to try out Terasology for comparison.Leadership issues in the Fabric community raise questions about the sustainability of the project as an alternative to Forge.Minecraft Forge has decided to use name mappings from Microsoft, under a license that a lead Forge developer has raised legal concerns to Mojang which have not been resolved/answered.To be fair, I've just been chilling on an older version so I can't really attest to the exact impact this has had. Minecraft updates have been speeding up and some members of the modding community have been difficult catching up.A few things finally spurred me to try out Terasology:

Songkong pro12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() This will allow you to see the wood from the trees and work on a method and plan for the whole collection. You can add this area as a storage area in Roon and disable the existing one. If you can I would suggest taking a small subset of your collection and creating a copy elsewhere so you can experiment with it. I think it’s going to be quite time consuming and laborious. If you are decided on Roon then there’s some work ahead to make this work for you. I suspect that many or most of your albums are not being identified due to the lack of metadata in your tracks. Once it’s done this it does a pretty good job. Whilst Roon does use its own metadata it uses your metadata as a starting point to identify the album correctly. This is in contrast to my convention which uses the composer’s Last Name only.ĭoes Roon have a preference for displaying composer? Does it use First and Laat Name!p? Or just Last Name? Frequently the Title field will display this way:Ĭomposer First Name Last Name: Composition I also have some music in AIFF format and some music in FLAC format contributed from various sources. Is there any downside to using Roon’s Title field the same way as I used Naim’s Title field? I would like to continue to use the Title field in this way in Roon. The result was an almost perfectly alphabetized collection under “Album Display”. All my music with a composer is edited as follows in the Title field:Ĭomposer surname: Album title (usually the composition)Īlternatively, for albums devoted to an artist I would edit the Title field like this:Įg: Joan Sutherland: Coloratura Spectacular In order to do that I had to manipulate the Title field. ![]() Therefore I found it convenient to force the display of my albums in alphabetical order. Problem 4: Naim has a reduced feature set compared to Roon. Problem 3: Is there a field for Conductor? I can’t seem to find it, so I have been adding the conductor as another Artist. How do I edit these albums so they are properly combined? Occasionally, the additional discs are so widely separated in the display I can’t always find the other discs. Instead it displays two identical album covers side by side. But often it doesn’t bundle multiple, disc albums together. It is supposed to combine them under one album cover. Problem 2: Roon fails to handle multi-disc albums properly in many cases. How do I delete that now irrelevant entry? but “Various Artists” remains as though it is one of the artists. I want to delete this field (or override it with an artist), when I “add an artist”. As soon as I start editing to add artists to an album, the “Various Artists” field becomes irrelevant. In those cases it uses a category called “Various Artists”. Problem 1: Roon doesn’t add artist data to a majority of my albums. I need some help in understanding Roon so I can do smart editing. It has created a LOT of editing for me, almost every single album must be edited. That is most unfortunate because my heavily curated music file metadata is rendered unuseable and Roon has less than its usual information to recognize and interpret my music. It is also unreadable by SongKong, which I had wrongly counted on to interpret Naim’s otherwise unreadable WAV metadata, because SongKong supports only thr UnitiServe. UNFORTUNATELY, Naim uses a proprietary version of WAV which is unreadable by Roon. It was originally ripped and processed by the Naim Uniti Core as WAV. I just sent my 3 Tb music collection, almost all opera and classical, to Roon. I have the Roon Core on my Windows 10 Professional, Core i7 computer and I am using the iPad Air as controller I hope some of you using Roon can help answer some of my Roon questions so that the editing may proceed wisely. So Roon was greatly handicapped when presented with my 3 Tb of music files, not having access to my meticulously edited metadata, and the result is a major mess. Not only that but the way the UnitiServe’s metadata file is organized is different from the way the Uniti Core’s metadata is organized so revising SongKong to handle UnitiCore’s version of WAV is a big job. I had heard that Song Kong could rescue me, but it turns out it doesn’t work with the output of the Uniti Core, though it does work with UnitiServe (oh no!). I quickly learned that Roon cannot process my Naim generated WAV files because they are proprietary to Naim (oh no!). So I decided to move to Roon, which also offers seamless access to the use of Qobuz or Tidal and Internet Radio. I want to expand my listening experience from the Naim Uniti Core to all four of my stereo systems, Living Room, TV Room and both Windows Computers.

Goldilocks ube macapuno roll12/29/2023 ![]() I would definitely recommend making this batter from scratch because using cake flour really gives you a softer cake due to the lower gluten. If you’re in a pinch, you can also use boxed cake mix, however, I’m not too sure how using coconut cream would affect the texture. Instead of using oil and milk for wet ingredients, I used coconut cream to get a more flavorful cake and keep the added fatty moisture-two birds with one stone. Traditionally, ube cake from Red Ribbon is made using a chiffon cake recipe, which is a cake made with traditional ingredients of flour, eggs, and sugar, but also includes vegetable oil to produce an extra moist cake and meringue to create an airy texture.Īfter testing different recipes, I ended up doing a nontraditional substitution for the vegetable oil. Making the cake from scratch vs boxed cake mix This ube cake will give you ultra-moist chiffon ube cake layers, macapuno filling, and coconut milk and ube buttercream frosting. It’s gotten so popular that sometimes it’s even difficult to find ube cake from my local Red Ribbon shop, so I’ve made my own version that includes my favorite things. From cake to ube crinkle cookies, ube ice cream, and even ube waffles. Some cakes even include macapuno (coconut string jam)-an absolutely welcome partner in crime with any ube dessert.Įven though I’ve grown up eating all things ube, including this tasty cake, it wasn’t until recent years that ube has gotten exponentially popular in every form. This cake typically comes in a traditional round, sheet cake, or roll cake variation, but it’s always moist, nutty, and delicious. A Filipino celebration isn’t complete without dessert, and one of the most famous cakes is ube cake from Red Ribbon or Goldilocks.
